Teagyn Chace Smith-Hendricks 10-13-00 - 1-8-05 Teagyn Chace Smith-Hendricks was born on 10-13-00 in Virginia Beach, VA. She truly was heaven special child. Teagyn had problems from the moment that she was born, she had to be given oxygen, she was cold and had no suck/swallow. Teagyn endured many many therapies and test and through it all she did it with a smile. In January of 2004 I got the worst call of my life, my baby, my beautiful little girl had a peroxisomal disease. D Bifunctional protein deficiency. There was no cure no Treatment. I couldn't believe that this was true, not my baby. Teagyn again fought so hard, she regressed she lost all skills she couldn't sit, couldn't hold up her head she even lost her beautiful smile. This horrible horrible disease robbed my baby girl of her life. On 1-8-05 by babies life was suddenly and unfairly taken from here. Teagyn was such a little fighter, she fought right until the end. My poor baby went through more in her 4 yrs than most people would in 10 lifetimes. She had to endure horrible seizures twice, she was pocked and prodded thousands of times, she was ventilated twice, fought of many infections and through it all she was happy. In the end her little heart got tired, Teagyn got tired and she flew peacefully to Heaven, to be with her beloved grampa Peter. Despite all of Teagyn's needs she had a great life. She was treated just like any other 4 yr old. I refused to let anyone else treat her differently. She attended special needs preschool and daycare. She loved painting, swimming, bowling, dancing everything a "normal" 4 yr old enjoys. Her favorite food was chocolate and slurpees. She loved life and we loved her, and she will never be forgotten.
